The E - Word!

Oh no! She used the E-Word
when previously I'd merely thought the thought
but avoided naming it for fear of bringing it to life
to reality and having it devour me
like an out of control nightmare monster
like it is now
that she used the E-Word

those that leave in a hurry to seek refuge
or asylum may be clearer about the start
of their displacement
than those for whom it is a gradual, creeping realization
they'll never go back
not in the same way, the way they'd always thought
not unless the world shifts radically, once more
as it did before
making reality of fantasy, vice of versa
and a mockery for what once passed for solid ground

KakBobi

KakBobi is such a direct
evocative word
it brooks no obfuscation
unlike the word brassiere
KakBobi tells you like it is
the raison d 'etre
the thing exists because
there are Bobi's
and they need
to be kakked

Yesterday's Poem of the Day: Undeserving

it is not yet established
even
that every day deserves a poem
but I'd rather reward undeserving days
with unwarranted
and perhaps unedifying poems
than not hand out poems at all

The Dark Room for T:snippet hoping to become a poem when it grows up

we all have
a darkroom
to process the darkest snapshots of life
family
source of our greatest joys
deepest sorrows, unspoken terror
unless we do not love and are not
loved
and can pretend we have no darkroom
since we have nothing to process
no dark pictures, perhaps
no light
better to have these
and know they reside
where we fear so much to enter
the darkroom

Introducing Poem of The Day May 24 aka dominant twin

I have always found it hard to give the artist in me room to breathe & grow. Even when employed in the arts, other duties and responsibilities have tended to demand, and receive, much of the oxygen due the artist.

crossing london, south-east
to west, or nyc, via bus on
and ferry from
the isle of staten
to the submerged train
south to north
harlem bound
or further back still
congo's cross to kissy
mm kissy kissy kissy....
focus now
commutes,
accounts & timesheets,
fish & beer
passivity & laziness
all like the dominant
conjoined twin
conspired to deprive
the artist the requisite oxygen

Currently I commute 2 hours a day and have resolved to clear my thoughts of work and other responsibilities and jot (at least the beginnings of) a poem of the day. Luckily, I have just the blog to post them on/in/at?

Lions versus Mosquitos

The lion
or perhaps lioness
hunts prey
kills
and pride eats it's fill

While the mosquito
first gorges on it's prey
which may go on to die
some time later

Real Republicans: KALAKUTA

moving with unselfconscious abandon
caring not
that fellow travellers neither saw nor heard
the dead Nigerian in Y-fronted briefs
saxophone dangling from his neck
screaming Yoruba in my ears
I am a Kalakuta republican,
who never yet, worshipped at the shrine
